Hey,
Is nutrition ? or exercise ?♀️more important? ?
Whether we want to trim off extra pounds so we feel better, look better, or be better prepared to tackle whatever demands come your way, we probably want to find the most efficient way to do it too.
Well, with this email, we’re going to figure out if we should put our emphasis on nutrition or exercise to get the results we want & deserve.
I present the contenders for your fat-loss attention…
While fad diets have tried their darndest to malign the fine name of dieting, healthy nutritional habits continue to be a vital way to lose fat.
In fact, research has shown that if you’re only going to do one thing in your journey to weight loss, it should be to be in a calorie deficit.
What does a calorie deficit mean exactly?
It is defined as:
“any shortage in the amount of calories consumed relative to the amount of calories required for maintenance of current body weight”
It means eating less calories than those that we expend throughout our daily activities.
So simply paying attention to what we eat isn’t going to make us lose weight (body fat).
We’ve got to calculate our calories needed to maintain our current weight and then consume less calories than those we need for maintenance.
If you want to lose even more faster, you’ll even want to make sure your calories are good (nutrients dense) calories.
In other words, you can’t eat just biscuits and cakes every day.
You’ll want to go with fresh fruits and vegetables, lean protein sources, and lots and lots of water.
Like nutrition, there have been all sorts of fad exercise programmes that have spanned from dangerous to ridiculously funny.
But exercise hasn’t lost its place in the race for weight (fat) loss.
Why?
Because savvy people realise that we’ve got to find an exercise programme if we’re going to maximise our weight (fat) loss results.
As mentioned earlier, the best technique for fat loss is to burn more calories than we take in, and exercise is our golden ticket for shredding calories and building muscle.
In fact, the best exercises help us to burn calories at an accelerated rate even once we’ve stopped training!!
There are other reasons exercise rocks in the world of weight (fat) loss.
It is the best way to ensure that the weight you drop is fat and not muscle.
Also, when we exercise, our muscles tone up and grow stronger.
With more muscle, your body’s ability to shave off calories increases, making it easier to burn calories even when you’re doing nothing at all.
This is where we get the idea of exercise making your body into a fat burning furnace ??
Nutrition alone can’t do that!
More than likely, you read this hoping that exercise alone would help you lose (body fat) weight because you find the idaea of watching what you eat tiresome.
Or maybe you’re just the opposite, and you prefer to watch your nutrition but absolutely loathe exercise.
This battle that has been waging on for decades (okay, make that centuries) is ultimately a draw.
If we’re not willing to eat right and exercise, the success we see today will be gone tomorrow.
Try as we might, one of these ingredients alone is not enough to help us lose (body fat) weight, keep it off, and have an overall healthy lifestyle.
In fact, we will find that once we become serious about losing (body fat) weight, we will be careful about what we eat because we don’t want to put all that exercise to waste.
At the same time, we’ll push yourself harder in the gym because we realise we could burn even more calories and get closer to our weight goal today.
So let’s stop pitting nutrition against exercise and do both.
Our good health (mental & physical) and leaner self await!
To your success,
Coach James
